Homemade Popsicle Essentials!
Are you looking for the perfect popsicle mold? Allow me to help! I have tried no less than 5 designs, some that were nice but cumbersome, and some were awful! These are my recommended popsicle-making supplies!
Choose Your Fruit
I started making homemade strawberry popsicles on the homestead because we grow an insane amount of fresh strawberries every year. I was desperate for ways to use almost 100 pounds of fruit! While plain strawberry popsicles are delicious, I prefer fruit combinations.
My absolute favorite combination is strawberry- peach popsicles. This is a great way to use the canned peaches I preserve every year. Another big hit is strawberry lemonade popsicles.
The sky the limit! Try adding berries such as blueberries or raspberries. Consider watermelon or pineapple chunks. Maybe you want something more tropical, consider mangos, pineapple or bananas.

Add Flavor with Liquids
While the recipe calls for water, add flavor by thinking out of the box! Use the reserved juice from any canned fruit. Add orange juice, pineapple juice, or lemonade. Looking for a creamier texture, use yogurt instead of liquid.
Ingredients for Whole Fruit Popsicles

How to Make Whole Fruit Popsicles
This recipe is perfect for fresh, frozen or canned fruit. Some prep will be determined by the fruit you use.
Step 1: Prepare your fruit.
- Wash fresh fruit and chop into pieces that will easily fit into your blender.
- Partially defrost frozen fruit.
- Drain canned fruit and reserve juice.
Step 2: Place prepared fruit in the blender pitcher, sprinkle with sugar, and allow it to sit for at least 15 minutes.
Step 3: Add 1 of tablespoon of lemon juice and 1 cup of water (or use reserved juice).
Step 4: Blend until smooth.
Step 5: Pour the mixture into the popsicle mold and add the popsicle sticks.
Step 6: Freeze for at least 4-6 hours or overnight.
- Put the fruit and sugar into the blender, allow it to set 15 minutes.
- After the fruit and sugar has set.
- Add lemon and water, blend until smooth.
- A funnel makes it easier to direct the pour into the molds.
- Fill just shy of full, to allow for expansion.
- Cover is required to set wooden sticks properly.
Remove the popsicles from the freezer and let them warm for a few minutes to make them easier to remove from the mold.
In a Hurry? Run warm water over the bottom of the mold.
Storage Options
If you have a small family, or don’t mind making popsicles more frequently, you can keep frozen popsicles in the mold. The reusable sticks are a perfect way to reduce waste. The popsicles freeze quickly and this strawberry popsicles recipe is so easy that it’s simple to make a new batch to have fresh popsicles by morning. I have two molds to make double the number of fruit pops.
Once the temperatures warm up, we eat a lot of popsicles. Since we work outside and have no air conditioning, a refreshing popsicle cools us down from the inside out. For this reason, I like to stay ahead and create a good supply of popsicles.
Storage bags made especially for popsicles are easy to use and inexpensive. If you don’t want to purchase special bags, I have also found it’s easy to wrap each popsicle in plastic wrap and store in an airtight container or freezer bag.
Since we use so many, I don’t worry about fancy storage methods. My favorite storage trick it is to keep a small plastic drawer in my freezer for popsicle storage. I try to mix the flavors inside so it’s easy to find your favorite.

Cleaning the Mold: The recommended silicone popsicle mold is dishwasher-safe!
Hand washing? It comes with a foam cleaning brush. My biggest tip? Throw that cheap cleaning brush away and get a good bottle brush! You’ll thank me later!
